The Credit Crisis Visualized

Even with all the available material and references available on the net, most of my friends and classmates still wonder about how the current world economic crisis started. The simple explanation to this is that those references and materials that explain the inner workings of the current credit crisis are, to be honest, not easily digestible by the ordinary folk.

Well, thanks to Jonathan Jarvis from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California we can now understand the on-going credit crisis through visual media.

Awesome animation and explanation of the credit crisis. I just hope someone could translate this into Filipino so that more Pinoys could further understand the current economic crisis.

One point of observation though, and this would open a new door for opportunities and discussion, the video never explained nor mentioned why the homeowners started to default on their mortgages.

Just got through with the Mid-Term examinations and the Lasallian Festival this past two weeks hence the lack of updates to this blog. A lot has been going on for me which I’d try very hard to share with you over this coming days.

To break the hiatus, I’ll answer a fellow volunteer’s question last week about VideoLan VLC Media Player; “What video formats can the VLC Player play?”

The answer is quite obvious, almost any known video format on the planet. Here’s a list from the VLC Media Player website:

Shippuuden Ending 8 – Dev Parade – Bacchikoi

Just like with McDonalds’ “First Love” TV ad which features the classic E-heads hit song “Ang Huling El Bimbo”, I cannot help but move along while laughing to the latest ending song of the Naruto Shippuuden series, “Bacchikoi” by Dev Parade.

Naruto dancing along with Gai and Lee is something a Naruto-fan could never ever forget!

Jun Lozada @ DLSU-Dasmariñas

Last July 23, a day before my birthday, something awesome happened at school. Finally, after all the hard wait, and frustrated attempts by the police in preventing this event from happening months ago, Jun Lozada, star witness for the ZTE-NBN corruption scandal visited De La Salle University – Dasmariñas as a guest speaker on a forum entitled: “The Role of Communication on Social Transformation”

Many critics, both inside and outside campus and especially those who are against Jun Lozada, question why he was invited as a speaker when the forum’s topic was about communication and when the issue about the ZTE-NBN scandal has been all but forgotten. A very good point, however only at first glance.

I believe that the Community Development Program Council, the organizers of the forum, thought that this would Jun Lozada would be perfect to speak on the forum since it concerns communication and social transformation.

Jun Lozada is an Electronics and Communication engineer, and he has contributed immensely to the movement of social transformation. Instead of inviting a communications expert – academically, the organizers thought it would be better if we were to hear from someone who has used communication for better and more noble means than making a good living just for one’s own sake. It is taking something abstract into something more concrete, practical and profoundly imbued with values we youth today should learn.
