Another bad case of the last song syndrome as this new single from Kamikazee has been playing on loop on my BlackBerry phone for the past week know.

It’s one of the most popular songs nowadays, Noel Cabangon’s version of that classic Sharon Cuneta song, “Kung Maputi na Ang Buhok Ko.” Here’s the high quality video:

The song even become more beautiful thanks to Noel’s cool and soothing voice. And it’s nice that he and his music is getting more attention, for he is a truly gifted, creative and talented Filipino musician that is homegrown and carries meaningful advocacies.

Eraserheads Reunion concert is still on

It’s a good thing Philip Morris and its brands have pulled out from this much-awaited musical event in Philippine music history.

Now that the controversies, bad PR and possible law suits have been cleared, it’s all systems go for the Eraserheads Reunion Concert this August 30, 2008. The new venue is The Fort and unfortunately, the concert is no longer for free.

dear everybody

after much ado. the eraserheads concert is most definitely pushing through.

philip morris and its brands have pulled out from the concert. but another company is taking over the production. the turn over started yesterday and they have already started work on the site in the fort. so you can check.

there are good news and bad news.

unfortunately it’s no longer free. all the long winded registration procedures in the red nation site is now void.

the good news is that the age limit is now 12 years old (for safety reasons) and tickets will be sold so you don’t have to wait for confirmation and what not.

the official announcement and ticketing details will come out in major newspapers and on the radio on tuesday.

these are the only details i know for now so no need to email me. i’m just the drummer.

btw. i just got home from the last rehearsal. the band is cooking. we will see you all on the 30th.

There are just five days to go before the concert and I’m torn that I may not have enough money left to get tickets. All thanks to Philip Morris’ greedy attempts at making more money at the expense of the Eraserheads’ musical legacy and the health of Filipinos.

Panganay ng Umaga or First-born/child of the Morning is a reminder that we humans are not masters of nature, but rather, an innate part of the web of life. That our skills, intelligence and nature are meant to protect and nurture this planet and all the creatures that live in it, not submit it to our will. Earth Day is officially over but it’s essence and challenge to us remains as urgent now as it has ever been since the dawn of creation.

Umaga by Capo

My best friend’s band, Capo performs one of their original songs entitled “Umaga” at the Stonehouse Star Tavern Cafe.

It was shot using my K800i phone which explains the grainy quality of the video. Still, this song by Capo is a catchy and lively one, written as a message to the youth today to rise up to the challenge of being an active player in nation-building, hence the title, “Umaga.”
