Eraserheads Reunion Concert part 2: The Final Set on March 7, 2009

Wow! This is going to be one big event. After the 1st E-heads reunion concert was cut-short by Ely Buendia’s heart condition, fans cannot help but ask for a part two or continuation of the first concert.

Finally, after months of having to settle with rumors, it will now be a reality. Bloggers have already posted about this, all pointing to a Philstar.com posting, the second part of the Eraserheads Reunion concert has been confirmed. Dubbed “The Final Set” the concert is slated for March 7, 2009.

No venue has been announced yet, so we’re just have to wait around for their next official announcement.

With the E-heads fever being spread by that hit McDonald’s commercial featuring their ultimate hit, “Ang Huling El Bimbo”, this second reunion concert would certainly be another big event.

I hope I could score some tickets!

By the time Bubble Gang went on air last Friday night, I was on my way to San Pablo, Laguna thereby causing me to miss that episode once more. Darn family balikbayans who suddenly come home for no apparent reason.

Anyways, here’s the enhanced video of the Eraserheads Reunion concert as spoofed by the ever-so-talented Michael V which was shown in last Friday’s Episode.

Hoping for an Eraserheads Concert Part 2 (but only after Ely Buendia is 100% OK)

Is it fate? I had mixed thoughts about the Eraserheads reunion concert that took place, but was cut short, last night at the Fort Bonifacio Global City Open Field in Taguig.

It was cut short because Ely Buendia suffered a mild heart attack during the 20-minute break of their much awaited reunion concert. He was then rushed to the Makati Medical Center for treatment.

The Inquirer report says:

“He had a slight attack because of stress due to the recent passing of his mother (Lisette Buendia), and their sound check which lasted till 3 a.m. today (Saturday),” said MTV Philippines and Radiohead director for marketing Ronald Esguerra

Ely Buendia deserves all the credit he can get. Despite his health and emotional condition, he pushed on with the concert, "tuloy ang Ligaya" ika nga. The other E-heads members also deserve big, big props for still pushing through with the concert despite all the controversies beforehand and of course to all four band members for giving the audience an awesome first set.

The audience must be thanked as well. Despite the euphoria of witnessing and listening the return of the Eraserheads right before their eyes, they did not explode into a mob ala-Wowowee stampede when Ely’s sister Lally Buendia announced that the concert had to be cut short. They left the venue quietly and peacefully, hoping for Ely’s speedy recovery both physically and emotionally.

I’m sure all the other E-heads fans that didn’t make it to the concert last night are with the band, Ely’s family and friends on this one.

Which brings me to the title of this post, because there’s this Pinoy thing that when something so good and awesome gets cut short, we cannot help but crave for a second or follow-up. In Filipino, "Isa pa nga, parang bitin kasi eh."

Rumors have already circulated but I’ll repeat them here, I hope for a second Eraserheads reunion concert, but and it’s a big BUT, only after Ely Buendia has recovered 100% physically, physiologically, and emotionally.

Until then, I wish Ely Buendia a speedy and full recovery. I thank Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, Marcus Adoro and Ely Buendia for their musical legacy and giving us the Eraserheads.

Unconfirmed Update: I heard this from a radio station while on a jeepney ride home, entrance for the E-heads reunion concert is supposedly free as long as you present 20 packs of cigarettes(?) The sponsor is Philip Morris.

I don’t smoke and I’m against smoking so I hope this rumor is not true, otherwise, I’d be forced to collect 20 packs of cigarettes from friends who do smoke. Bummer, IMO.

Yes, it’s confirmed: The Eraserheads are reuniting after many years of being apart, not for good but only for one show slated for Aug. 30 at the CCP Open Grounds.

According to the STAR source, all the original members (photo) are performing — Ely Buendia, Buddy Zabala, Marcus Adoro and Raimund Marasigan.

This piece of good news should make the Eraserheads fans very happy.

Said to be the ‘greatest Pinoy band,’ the Eraserheads will sing all their hit songs, including Alapaap, Toyang and Ang Huling El Bimbo. (source)

I am definitely going to watch this reunion concert by the Eraserheads! Other E-heads fans and Pinoy Rock music lovers would certainly go nuts over it as well. Not much details have been given but I’ll be keeping a close eye on entertainment news sites, forums and blogs for more information about this “dream come true” musical event for me.

2008 has just become more awesome! First it’s RedHorse’s Muziklaban 10 and now this reunion concert by the Eraserheads. It is simply asteeeg!!!!
