Welcome back to the second installment of “The Road to the Philippine Blog Awards: Finalist Spotlight” still focusing our eyes and browsers on the Personal Blog category.
As promised, this edition is dedicated to the one and only Mae, the “emo” blogger and designer behind The Last Leaf Designs and Chronicles, and among the finalists in this year’s Philippine Blog Awards.
Last Leaf designs has been around since June of 2006 (as old as The Four-eyed Journal) and since then, it has built up quite a considerable traffic and readership. It features the thoughts, articles, poems and short stories that Mae has written and it includes portfolio as well. Named after her favorite short story by O. Henry, it reflects her learnings and realizations in life. This and among others are the reasons why Last Leaf Designs has been selected to join the shortlist of Finalists for the Personal Category.
What does she think of this wonderful opportunity? Read below and find out.
1. How does it feel to be nominated for the PBA?
Mae: It feels great, I’m not that excited because, after seeing the initial nominees for the Personal Category, I know that my chances are slim.
2. Do you know who nominated you?
3. Why do you think your blog was nominated?
*she did not answer this question, which if perfectly okay.
4. Who do you think will win in your category?
Mae: Jessica Zafra, of course
5. Why do you think you should win?
Mae: Honestly, odd as it seems, I don’t even think I am even worthy to be listed against the finalists For me, blogging is fun, and my stress-reliever and if I get acknowledged because of that, then that is better.
6. What would you do if you win?
Mae: Celebrate, of course! That would probably inspire me to blog more consistently and write more engaging entries.
7. What do you think of the Philippine blog awards?
Mae: The Philippine Blog Awards is a great initiative from our top probloggers. It would, hopefully, bring the pinoy blogosphere in the international spotlight. Another thing is that it would help a lot of Pinoy Bloggers to aim for something that would produce better blogs that would be in par with other top celeb bloggers.
8. Is there a blog that’s not nominated but deserves to be nominated in the PBA?
Mae: Actually, I have never checked all of the nominee’s sites because of the sheer number, it is almost impossible.
9. Would you join the next Philippine blog awards?
Mae:Yes, why not?
10. Any messages to your fellow nominees?
Mae: Good luck and congratulations! Cheers to the betterment of Pinoy blogosphere. Let’s work hard, and blog harder
There you have it, right from the 21-year-old Filipina blogger and designer. Thank you Mae for being such a sport and doing this interview with me. I wish you all the luck for the Awards and more blogging success.
