Globe Broadband really sucks!

by jhay on November 6, 2008

Writing this entry using the free Wi-Fi from Burger King @ SM Dasmariñas because for three weeks now, my Globe Landline + broadband has been out of service. That’s three fucking weeks of no dial tone, no internet connection and they even have the balls to remind me of my pending monthly bills. I’ve already settled the bill last week but as of this writing, their lousy, no good snail-paced repair technicians have not yet restored service to my Globe landline.

This is despite my three phone calls to their fucked up Customer Service hotline, which has a standard waiting time of no less than 45 minutes, and three personal visits to their Globe Business Center in SM Dasmariñas, which again has a standard waiting time of nearly an hour before any of the desk agents call your number and actually listen to your complaints.

It’s the same old crappy, lousy and snail-paced service I’ve no choice but to put up with from Globe. Don’t believe their fancy ads nor their marketing spins, their services would bring nothing but headache, frustration and would cause serious disruptions to your business and productivity.

The only thing Globe is good at is sending your monthly bills and promptly cut-off your service days before the ACTUAL due date of your billing period.

Ang lakas talaga ng Globe. B*llsh*t!!!!

The real issue here is that globe is overselling their network. If they can't afford to upgrade their backbone to support that many customers at advertised speeds, they should let customers go.

Well, except pag inde ako nakakabayad ng bills after 4 months, then puputulan nila ako. Pero mabilis din ang reconnection. But that's a different story.

I've had terrible experiences with PLDT noong nagpakabit kami ng broadband a long time ago. 2.5k pa yung 128kbps noon. Imagine that. And yeah, pag meron problems, same story. So sabi ko noon, never again sa PLDT. I'm currently on a 3Mbps service for 2k.

Sa mga kilala ko dun, I tell them to stick with PLDT. Sa area namin (Ortigas), Globe is way better than PLDT (or SmartBRO). Ofcourse you also don't have to pay for the times na wala ka service.

But yes, the general picture of broadband service sa Pinas is quite poor. Ang mahal, tapos ang bagal. Also, there is this mini-cartel (so to speak) among the telcos. Crappy yung after sales service ng karamihan, and meron lock in. The thing here is the lock-in, how can they even demand that kung hindi naman assured the service nila?

@Ade – There is, it's PLDT. I guess it will boil down to choosing the lesser evil.

hay naku! talagang globe broadband sucks! lumipat ako ng apartment, 2 months ago so kailangan maitransfer yung line. I went to a nearby wireless center, signed up for an application, na according to them 7-10 business days lang daw ang processing. Tumatawag ako palagi sa costumer service hotline nila, yet sinasabi nila palagi on the process pa daw. Gosh! Imagine 2 months nako naghihintay!

That really sucks big time! Sorry to hear about that dude. So this is the reason why you haven't updated in a long time. Have you thought about moving to a different ISP? Anyways, all the best and I hope Globe gives you a discount or you find a better alternative. :)

@Jaypee – My connection has been restored and right now, I have a lot of catching up to do. If Globe doesn't adjust my next bill, it's goodbye for good.
