2009 December 1

Just 24 days to go and Christmas would soon dawn upon us. It has been a tough and challenging year for us all, with many typhoons, political upheavals, well-known figures passing on and heroes crowned, 2009 is definitely a year to look back to in the future.

However, I think it’s just fitting that Christmas is celebrated on December, the last month of each year, so that we can look back and be thankful we’ve made it this far. And to show our gratitude for all the good tidings that have come our way and all the trials we’ve surmounted, it’s time to give something back.

Especially after three destructive typhoons have devastated our country. The task of rebuilding still goes on. That’s why the De La Salle University – DasmariƱas through the Lasallian Community Development Center has started a new initiative to continue on the task of extending help and assistance to our fellow Filipinos still recovering from the ravages of three typhoons.

Starting today, we’re launching the DLSUD toys & school supplies drive to gather toys, school supplies like books, bags, pencils, pens, notebooks, books and others to be given to the children living in the areas devastated by the typhoons. Below is the poster I created for the campaign,

So once more, we’re calling on all Lasallians to share the Christmas spirit of giving and loving to our brethren still recovering from the tragedy brought on by the typhoons.

Boxes will be placed in different locations throughout the DLSU-D campus where you could put your donations. Or you can directly visit the Lasallian Community Development Center at the 2nd floor of the SBC Building to give your donations. You can also get in touch by calling their number 416-4596 or 414-4531 local 3068.

Let’s share our blessings this coming Christmas, let’s share to our neighbors the caring passion that is the Lasallian Mission.
