Rumors are abound that Nikon has 3 new dSLR coming on soon.

First is a new entry level dSLR which could possibly be the Nikon D4000. So soon? It’s only been less than a year since the D3000 was launched.

The second camera is touted to have 39 AF points, 16 Megapixels with a 6300 ISO + HI2 position, the ability to capture at 24 frames per second in 1080p and an optional MB-D11 grip.

The third camera is for the Pros, it will be 16 MP with 6400 ISO + HI2 position, 24 fps 1920/1080 video and it will have an optional (new) MB-D11 grip. It could be a replacement for the D90 or a model in between. It could even be the replacement for the D300s.

More updates on this rumor via Nikon Rumors, but still, Nikon is certainly bringing out the goods.

Once you’ve become serious about your digital photography, it would be a smart thing to get yourself remote control for hands-off shooting like time-lapse, self-portraitures or long exposure shots.

When I got a tripod for my Nikon D40, the Nikon ML-L3 remote was the next logical thing to acquire. Sure it may be around $40, dirt-cheap compared to the other accessories for digital photography, there’s no stopping the geek in you to come out and have a say about it right?

Check this LEGO IR remote for Nikon dSLRs by KoZuEst:

LEGO Nikon IR Remote by KoZuEst

It’s a fully working IR remote for Nikon dSLRs inside that LEGO brick. It costs something around $7 and you can build yourself one by following the instructions over at Instructables.

What’s next? A Nikon dSLR made of LEGO bricks?

The first time I’ve ever laid my hands on a Pentax camera was years ago back in high school, when I tried out my uncle’s film SLR that had a broken 50mm lens. It was bulky, heavy, and looked like it would stand the rugged outdoors.

The same could be said to the upcoming Pentax Optio W90. Though not a dSLR, this new digital camera has been built to be used for outdoors especially for the adventurous ones.

12 MP digi-cam built for Outdoors

12.1 megapixel CCD

720p high-definition video at 30 fps

Wide-angle 5x optical zoom (28-140mm equivalent)

2.7″ LCD 16:9 display

Waterproof up to 20 ft

The Optio W90 can recognize up to 32 faces with its own face-recognition technology. Not that just, a new feature not found in most of its competitors is a pet recognition feature that allows the camera to automatically snap the shutter when your pet turns to face the camera. Most neat for taking photos of your pets that wouldn’t just sit still.

Another neat feature of the Optio W90 is its Digital Microscope mode which enables you to capture images of objects that are within an inch away. Then the three LED lights surround the lens to provide lighting for these extreme macro shots. It would be great for taking photos of plants and flowers but I’m not sure if it will let you take nice photos of insects as you have to get really close with the camera.

The Pentax Optio W90 would be released this coming April and would carry a price tag in the region of $330.00 USD or Php15, 095.

Nothing seems to be impossible with a pile of LEGO bricks and a creative fan to create some of the coolest iterations to date. Catching on the latest hype about Apple’s iPad, Flickr user brickjournal has made an iPad out of LEGO bricks.

LEGO iPad by brickjournal

It’s all bricks and look at how the screen was made. I so envy the maker for his talent of which he had this to say:

My decision to build this stud up made the graphics a real pain to do – had I gone SNOT, I could have had a little more to work with in terms of detail. But if I went that way, the front face would have been raised a tiny bit – less than a plate.

Wish I could build something like this with LEGO again. It sure does bring back fond memories of my childhood. I hope we’ll see creations from other builders to see how they approached the challenge.

It was a fun-filled and learning three days wherein the student-volunteers were molded into a single body of Lasallian volunteers. Check out the rest of the photos on Flickr.
