Now I’m more motivated to get my own BlackBerry phone soon! Research In Motion (RIM) today announced that BlackBerry App World™ is now available to BlackBerry® smartphone* customers in the Philippines, bringing together a broad mix of free mobile applications!
Customers can now download BlackBerry App World directly to their smartphone by visiting www.blackberry.com/appworld or mobile.blackberry.com.
Popular BlackBerry App World applications available in the Philippines include:
- New Group Functionality – You can easily create or join a group of people in order to stay connected and share experiences in real-time. You can chat and share location updates, address books, calendars, photos, lists and more. A single group can contain up to 30 members.
- Bar-code Identity – Automatically invite a new contact to join your BlackBerry Messenger contact list by scanning a special bar code on the BlackBerry Messenger screen of their BlackBerry smartphone (i.e. you scan their bar code identity using the camera on your BlackBerry smartphone).
- Avatar – Users can set up a display picture as their personal avatar, which will automatically be seen by their contacts. BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 also populates avatars for contacts from BlackBerry Contacts
- Large Media File Transfer – With BlackBerry Messenger 5.0, users can share large media files of up to 6MB in size, including higher resolution pictures and longer voice notes.

Flickr® for BlackBerry Smartphones

Other global apps now available are Bloomberg Mobile; Flixster; Chum Radio; Kaglom; Three Squared Demo; WorldMate Live: Travel Like a Pro; and Goal.com.
BlackBerry users in the Philippines can now marvel and enjoy the world of BB apps available directly from RIM instead of doing hacks or something else. Enjoy!
